For the first time in history, an African-American becomes the president of the United States of America on November 4th, 2008.
He told supporters that "change has come to America," as he addressed the country for the first time as the president-elect.
"I think Obama is going to be one of the best presidents we'll have ... he's going to bring the freshness we need. We've just been bogged down so long. We need this shot in the arm."
These are the words of Peggy Wallace Kennedy, daughter of George Wallace, the Alabama governor who once vowed to maintain segregation forever.
Another proof - if needed - that America remains a great nation.
